This series is a self-portrait, named “Protective Colouration”. The original purpose of this function is supposed to be unseen by the outside world, the enemy. But here I am quoting the term as an opposite definition, in an ironic way. Although the pictures I took for this project are literally “protective colouration” owning to the same colour of the objects and background, in fact it also symbolized that I am trying to express that I am forced to be invisible and thus ignored by the world, in a way that it is not a protection but a harming for me.
這個系列是我的「自拍照」，命名為「保護色」其實是一種「諷刺」，「保護色」本身字面上解釋是一種對自己的保護但是在這邊卻剛好是相反的用意：因為我想要這個世界注意到我但是我卻被迫隱藏在人群之中跟背景融為一體。

The final exhibition for the ma course, the concept of my way of displaying is “evolution”, because to do this “self-portrait” project really inspires me a lot, I found out more possibilities in my photography, I have more understanding about myself and photography. So I used the two black and white series of my hands, the scale from the white to black is getting bigger, and put them around one biggest red hand (in the middle), the “fuck”. It shows that whether you look at the pictures from right to left or left to right, they all “grow up” to the most aggressive, most confident “me”. You are witnessing my evolution!
這個展示方式的理念為「進化」，因為這一系列照片是我的「自拍照」，經過了一年的攝影碩士課程後我發現了我在攝影上更多的可能性，我變得更瞭解自己以及攝影這件事情。所以我將兩個黑白手系列放置在左右兩邊向中間逐漸變大（長大），最終進化成最具侵略性、最具自信也最大張的紅色的手-「FUCK」！並且經由這樣的方式讓觀眾不論是從左邊或右邊開始看都是呈現一樣的「進化過程」。你正在目睹著真男人小徐的「進化論」！！
