Dear Sir/Madam：
It took me about 2 weeks to get started to write this statement, as you know it is always hard to convince people to be willing to give financial support to an unfamiliar stranger like me for his/her unknown achievement in the future, but please don’t worry, I believe the following statement will demonstrate my personal experience and my belief.
Firstly, one of the most noticeable personality of mine is that “I learn from mistakes”. There is a perfect example; I took IELTS for 4 times and finally got a result of 6.5 points in order to fulfill the master course entry requirement in the UK. I never give up. I am an optimist who is willing to challenge and try any possibility to achieve my goal, just like a Creative Director I admire, Raul Arden, once written in his book, ”it’s hard to score without a goal. “ .
In addition, I published my own photography book “strangers” for 500 copies and used in the school application process two years ago. I tried to sell them at the same time, even though I have some reputation in the photography community in Taiwan but it is difficult to persuade people to purchase your book when they can just easily view them on your website. Surprisingly, the book does sell, and people from all over the world came also showed great interest in my book. I even took it to a master class held by REDEYE in Manchester taught by a world famous Mexican photographer - Pedro Meyer. He liked my book and wondered if he could buy one from me. I felt extremely flattered and surprised when he asked! But all these experiences make me more confident about myself and the photos I take, I start to believe I choose the right path in my life.
Secondly, my passion to photography is undeniable. I have been taking pictures for 10 years since 17, across the time from film to digital. I not only take a photographs but also create images that deliver my thought. Especially the design studies at my university makes me able to see things differently. Moreover, during the period of waiting for a reply from UCCA, I have already held two personal exhibitions in Taiwan. One was about the pictures I took last year when I studied in a language school in the UK. The other was about a girl I love for many years but never had chance to be together for the past 6 years, I chose the best pictures I took for her and held this exhibition as a present for her. I know this might sound really ridiculous, but this is the true me - I never give up!
To sum up, I am an incurable photographer, photography has become a part of my life, I hope it will never go away.
